This fiction novel was written by a Boston writer called Dennis Lehane, who also is the author of “Mystic River”.
The History, tell us about, two private investigators (Patrick Kenzie and Angela Gennaro)
These couple is hired by some politicians who are “victims” of a documents rob.
A totally innocent secret documents, well, at least is what these guys tell us at the beginning.
But in the following story, we can see that is not what the politicians have told.
The secret documents were actually taken by a black woman called “Jenna Angeline” who was an ordinary cleaning woman.
But she was reported “missing” the same day the documents disappeared.
So that’s enough prove to the corrupt and racist politicians of Boston.
So Patrick Kenzie starts the search while his partner Angela Gennaro is in their office, actually in a weird place… a church.
That’s where Patrick Kenzie got his first job as private investigator, and as pay the nuns and father gave him a place to work.
So when Patrick tells the new case to Angela, they quickly started the search as a couple, that’s where we know a little bit about the history of these guys.
They knew each other like when they where kids.
Patrick is in love of Angela since then, but they have another best friend. “Phil”, who is Angela husband.
And as Patrick said, “Angie and I, best friends… Angie and Phil, best lovers.”
The kind of job what they are hired for, is called “Simple-find-and-phone-call.” This means that they just need to find the implicated people and the documents, and then call the “boss”.
The search puts Patrick in a bad situation where a strange guy attacks him
He was wearing a dark blue baseball cap, then he pointed Patrick with a Uzi, he was standing in darkness, so Patrick couldn’t identify him.
He also was wearing Black wraparound sunglasses, black clothes over black skin.
The guy hit him, and he lost his consciousness.
We could say that, that’s where Patrick and Angie know that they are in a very bad business.
The couple went to Jenna Angeline’s House; they found that it was a black/poor area. Patrick took a look in the house… he doesn’t found anything. Using some connections, they found that she have 3 sisters.
They decided to investigate one of them, her name was Simone.
They followed her, and in a bar, they found Jenna Angeline with Simone.
They quickly started to ask her, in order to know all about the “Documents”, after hours of interrogate her, she told Patrick that the documents where hidden in a secret place, she could tell him where they are if he promised that he’s going to resolve the mystery.
The next day Jenna Angeline, Patrick and Angie went to the “Secret Place”, Angeline gave Patrick an envelope with a photograph inside.
The photograph shows 2 men, a black one and a white one, standing by a cheap chest and mirror, drink in their hands. The white man was Congressman Paulson a few years ago.
While they were asking who was the black man, a black guy with a baseball cap started to shoot with a gun, the bullets quickly crossed Jenna Angeline’s chest; Patrick attacked the guy and kicking him. He was the hero of the day.
But actually there were no heroes around. Jenna Angeline was dead and the rest of the photographs are hidden somewhere…
Somewhere only Jenna Angeline knows.
With the help of her sister, Patrick and Angie found the other secret place, this wasn’t easy, and in the search they found a huge problem.
Jenna Angeline’s Husband is guy called Socia, he’s the boss of an enormous web of teen thefts.
And the other big problem was her son… Roland.
Socia and Roland were known as the scariest people in the area.
Son and Father were in a permanent battle.
The other photographs show’s Congressman Paulson having sex with a child, at least 11 years old.
That was enough prove to put Senator Paulson in jail for a lot………..of years
The photos were publicized in a diary; it was the biggest scandal in the town….
Senator Paulson obviously was consigned and the right won again…
This time the “winning right” was too little in front of wrong, but Patrick Kenzie and Angela Gennaro start the fight one step at the time.
